Definition, Advantages and Disadvantages of Web 3

Web 3.0 or Web3 is a term that refers to the concept of an internet ecosystem that is more open, operates autonomously, and is managed in a decentralized manner. Originated by Gavin Wood, Web3 is an evolution of the internet that wants to move away from the centralization of Web2. The Web2 system is centralized in the large companies that control the internet (Google and Amazon).

A. Advantages

1. More Privacy

The first advantage is in terms of privacy, where in Web 3 privacy is more important and maintained, rather than surveillance and control. Users have the right to fully control their data, as it comes with the option to share or keep the information confidential.

2. Security

Blockchain technology will be more secure than hacking in the current version of the internet. Hackers will find it more difficult to exploit the network, even if they perform hacks because their activity is automatically logged.

3. Semantic Web

The Semantic Web is the next evolution of the internet that can improve the entire experience of web-based platforms. Users can use semantic technology to perform online data repositories, define vocabulary, and set data handling rules.

4. Connectivity

Data is closely related to Web 3 because semantic content leads to improved user experience, at a new level of connectivity by leveraging all accessible data.

B. Disadvantages

1. Need More Advanced Devices

The more sophisticated the web version used, the more sophisticated computer devices will be needed because not all computers can access the web 3. This has an impact on the huge costs as well.

2. Web 1.0 Became Ancient

If web 3 development is mature and ready to go, people will most likely switch to web 3 so that previous web versions will be abandoned and used.

3. Application Is Not Yet Wide

There is still a lot of work needed for the wider application of web 3 technology, including technological advancements, privacy laws, and the use of data to meet user needs.

4. Complex Functionality

It turns out that this technology is a technology that is difficult to understand for new users, so it raises doubts about using it.

That’s a little discussion about web 3.0, hopefully useful.
